10 Awesome Superhero Film Moments For When Marvel Owns Everything
2. Thanos Kills Half the Marvel Universe In A Snap
After appearing in the mid-credits teaser in 2012s The Avengers, Thanos, the Mad God of Titan, is undoubtedly going to play the big bad in an upcoming Marvel movie (the safe bet is The Avengers 3). With Thanoss magical macguffin - the Infinity Gauntlet - also getting name dropped in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, an adaptation of the Jim Starlin/George Perez/Ron Lim 1991 miniseries also seems inevitable. One of the definitive scenes from the Infinity Gauntlet occurs in the first issue when, in an effort to impress his mistress Death, Thanos uses the gauntlet to wipe out half of the universe with a snap of his fingers. Some of the casualties include members of the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, and countless other heroes and villains. Then, when the surviving heroes confront Thanos, he systematically defeats them all by using their own powers and abilities against them (i.e., encasing Cyclops and his eye beams in a cube, or stealing Thor's hammer so he turns back into a human while lost in the void of space). If Hollywood really wants to create a film with high stakes, an Infinity Gauntlet adaptation needs to take place in the broadest universe possible. That way, the full extent of Thanos's brutality and death worship will be on display, making for an unbelievable tense and emotional movie-watching experience.
