10 Awesome Trailers That Disguised Utterly Awful Films

3. Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace

darth maulThe Trailer: After a little over a decade arguably the most storied franchise ever was returning to the big screen with ungodly expectations. The Phantom Menace€™s trailer boasted the iconic John Williams theme, spectacular looking action that was not too reliant on CGI, and a new intimidating and fierce villain in Darth Maul. Why It Is Terrible: The dramatic and more mature tone was shifted in favor of a more child friendly approach. Realistically speaking, who reading this article just did NOT want to just grab Jar Jar Binks by the throat and strangle him? No one! Back to Darth Maul, for someone with an awesome double ended lightsaber he sure got defeated pretty uneventfully. The entire prequel trilogy defaced the entire legacy of Star Wars and I sincerely hope J.J Abrams can restore some glory in 2014.
