Cobie Smulders' star is undoubtedly on the rise, but she has not yet reached the stage where she is too big to appear on television shows - as confirmed by her multiple appearances in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. already. With that in mind - and given her links to the Avengers, S.H.I.E.L.D. and now Tony Stark in particular (she works for him) - she could provide a direct link between the television show and the blockbuster movie (which, of course, she is also going to be in). Perhaps she could provide a point of contact between Phil Coulson's team and the Avengers during the battle with Ultron. She could even speak directly to the Avengers, without the Avengers actually appearing on screen, during the crossover episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and vice versa during the movie itself. Let's face it - her use against Ultron in the physical sense when compared to the Avengers is non-existent, whereas the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. could definitely use her experience and guidance when it comes to playing their part in the fight.
