10 Awesome Wolverine Moments Hugh Jackman Won't Ever Get To Do
3. Losing His Adamantium
One of Wolverine's more questionable decisions has always been his continued insistence on fighting a man who can control the thing that his entire skeleton is covered. X-Men, Vol. 2 #25 highlighted why exactly this is a bad idea.
After Magneto unleashes an electromagnetic pulse that nearly wipes out all of Earth's electronics, the X-Men go to stop him. While Professor X and Jean Grey attack him telepathically, Wolverine is tasked with keeping Magneto busy.
Now Magneto and Wolverine both stick to certain codes of honour, a trait that has kept them from ever going all out against each other. However, in this fight the kid gloves come off and Wolverine delivers a viscous slash to Magneto's stomach, nearly gutting him. This causes the master of magnetism to snap and, in one of the most iconic scenes in X-Men comics, he tears the adamantium right out of Logan's body.
It's a brutal scene, with Wolverine only surviving thanks to Jean Grey using her telekinesis to literally hold him together as his healing factor fixes him. It also lead to the revelation that Logan's claws were actually another part of his skeleton and not created by Weapon X and caused him to temporarily lose his healing factor after it burned out trying to save him.
