10 Awful 2013 Films You'll Never Watch Again

2. Scary Movie 5

Scary Movie 5

Was there anyone out in the world who was demanding a new Scary Movie, screaming at every message board online that could be found? Yeah, didn€™t think so. Everyone thought we were done after Scary Movie 4; even stars Anna Faris and Regina Hall had moved on and stayed away from a 5th installment. The Weinstein Company decided to make it anyway, cramming it full of cameos and hoping it was enough to lure people into theaters.

It didn€™t work. Although the movie still made its money back, it was a financial disappointment. The problem first started with Scary Movie 3 when they moved it from an R-rating to PG-13, neutering many of the jokes that the first two films were known for. After that, it was only a matter of time before it ran out of steam.

Some of the expected movies being spoofed include Cabin in the Woods, Paranormal Activity, Insidious, and Mama, which are all horror films. What is puzzling are some of the other totally unrelated movies being spoofed like Black Swan, Madea (the character from Tyler Perry's movies), Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Inception. I mean, was anyone really wanting a Black Swan spoof 3 years after it came out.

The plot is as scatterbrained as some of the other films in this series. It solely exists as a loose, skeletal framework that ties the "jokes" all together. Its so ridiculously stupid and convoluted that trying to explain it here would be a waste of time. Scary Movie 5 throws as many dumb, unfunny jokes at the audience as it possibly can. The €œspoofs€ are no more than references with no real, solid jokes behind them. Its a lazy attempt to cash in on an existing franchise. Stay far far away.
