10 Awful 2017 Horror Movies To Avoid This Halloween

2. Eloise

Don't be lured in by the presence of Eliza Dushku or Robert Patrick here: Eloise is one of the year's worst films regardless of genre.

The directorial debut of three-time Oscar-winning visual effects maestro Robert Legato, this isn't merely content to be a serviceably bland, cliched movie about the real-life haunted Eloise mental hospital, but also piles several layers of stupid on top.

With hopeless characters (there's a mind-bogglingly dumb scene featuring LSD that has to be seen to be believed), lashings of unintentional comedy and horrendous direction, this is a staggeringly terrible film, and feels like a hugely wasted opportunity given the infamous history of the Michigan hospital.

Also, it's a low-budget horror film that started shooting three years before it eventually came out, which basically tells you everything you need to know.
