10 Awful 2017 Horror Movies To Avoid This Halloween

4. Wish Upon

Wish Upon Joey King
Orion Pictures

A PG-13 horror movie from the guy who directed Mortal Kombat: Annihilation and Annabelle doesn't exactly invite stellar expectations, and true to form, this unintentionally goofy, cheap-as-chips teen horror flick wastes the talented Joey King in a dreadfully basic morality tale with little for audiences to remember.

Filled with irritating jump scares, badly directed, full of characters who exist only to be killed off and failing to strike a consistent tone, Wish Upon is the sort of terrible movie that leaves you spaced out with a headache afterwards, wondering quite what you just saw or why you put yourself through it.

That it got a wide release in 2,250 American cinemas is, frankly, staggering.
