10 Awful 2018 Horror Movies To Avoid This Halloween

5. Insidious: The Last Key

If certainly more competently made than The Open House, the fourth (!) entry into the Insidious franchise decisively proves that the series has nothing new to say or do and has effectively run out of steam completely.

Lin Shaye makes for a compelling lead once again, but the drawn-out set-pieces are more boring than scary, the jump scares are obvious from miles away, and the tone is all over the place thanks to some totally unnecessary and cringe-worthy comic relief.

It does the bare minimum to have the teen crowd squealing in their seats, but unless you're somehow deeply invested in the series' mythology, there's absolutely nothing here you haven't seen in the previous three movies.
