10 Awful 2018 Horror Movies To Avoid This Halloween

6. The Open House

Netflix has proven itself a fine home for left-field horror flicks, such as last year's Gerald's Game and 1922, but the streaming giant kicked off 2018 with stunningly inept, suspense-free haunted house film.

Despite solid-ish performances from Piercey Dalton and Dylan Minnette, this is perhaps the most generic and forgettable horror film of the year so far, a film so bereft of atmosphere it's surely left countless hungover Sunday afternoon viewers passed out within a half-hour.

As wonderful as Netflix can be for ambitious filmmakers, it can clearly also serve as a dumping ground for formulaic garbage nobody wants to release theatrically. From its un-engaging opening to its dreadful ending, The Open House is an unrepentant trash fire.
