10 Awful Comic Book Movies That Would Actually Benefit From A Reboot
3. Ghost Rider
Marvel Studios have held the rights to Ghost Rider since 2013 but haven't shown much interest in doing anything with the character, presumably because an antihero that sells their soul to the devil and becomes a cursed instrument of vengeance consumed by hellfire doesn't fit into Disney's family-friendly vision for the franchise.
Ghost Rider did appear in the fourth season of Agents of SHIELD, and was also set to get his own spinoff show on Hulu before the idea was eventually canned, but if the studio could find a way to make a reboot work then he'd make a solid addition to the MCU in the future.
Of course, we've already seen Nicolas Cage play Johnny Blaze twice on the big screen, and the results were very disappointing to say the least. It would be fair to say that we expected a lot more from seeing one of the world's most eccentric and memeable actors tackling such an out-there role.
However, while Ghost Rider most likely wouldn't play well with the MCU's core roster of heroes, a more mature and adult-orientated take on the material could be well worth the investment. A reboot could bring something truly fresh and exciting to a series of movies that often fall frustratingly into formula, provided that Kevin Feige doesn't overly-sanitize it to the point that it becomes unrecognizable.
