10 Awful Comic Book Movies That Would Actually Benefit From A Reboot
2. Green Lantern
Warner Bros. first announced that they would be rebooting Green Lantern as part of the DCEU almost six years ago, but there's been almost no movement on the project since. In fact, if it wasn't for Ryan Reynolds constantly belittling his involvement in the 2011 disaster, then there would hardly be any talk about the character at all.
There are countless reasons why Martin Campbell's Green Lantern failed, but there are also just as many reasons why a reboot would theoretically work. The core concept essentially boils down to an all-powerful ring that can turn the wearer into a member of an intergalactic law enforcement division, which instantly opens up the possibilities for a genre-bending comic book blockbuster that isn't bound by many of the familiar tropes that see so many superhero flicks these days turn out to be virtually identical.
The sci-fi buddy cop movie is a sub-genre that definitely hasn't been explored enough in recent years, and as long as they manage to distance themselves as far away from Reynolds' brief stint under the poorly-rendered costume as possible, then a rebooted Green Lantern could bring something completely new to the DCEU, as well as playing a huge part in its future.
