10 Awful Films Game Of Thrones Actors Want Us To Forget

8. Gwendoline Christie - The Darkest Minds

Gods Of Egypt
20th Century Fox

This film released in 2018 to absolutely no fanfare from audiences or critics. The Darkest Minds was an attempt to recapture the young adult fantasy crave and create the next Harry Potter/Hunger Games and apply it to the ever-popular superhero trend. But not only did it fail at this, it also generated a product that it is entirely mundane to watch and lends no credibility to any performers involved.

The story focusses on a world where a virus has hit and killed ninety percent of all humans under the age of eighteen, with the remaining young adults gaining superpowers. The adult world thus decides to imprison these youths and maintain their threat, but soon a revolution begins.

It's a ham-fisted attempt at creating an allegorical portrayal of adolescence and the feeling of growing up, but doesn't even deliver any decent action to keep it interesting.

Gwendoline Christie hasn't got a huge part to play in this project, but still, it is something she shouldn't be too proud of. Her antagonistic role is utterly benign despite her ability to play intimidating presences. Even her dreadful treatment as Captain Phasma in the new Star Wars trilogy at least made her character look cool, but in this production, she gets nothing but an embarrassing notch on her resume.
