10 Awful Films Glee Actors Want Us To Forget
6. At The Devil's Door/Home (2014) - Naya Rivera
One of the most difficult film genres to master (at least in the modern era of cinema) is horror. Although it would seem that there are many sub-genres to verge into within this category, it becomes harder to scare and surprise your audience whilst also not falling back on old cliches. At The Devil's Door fails at being an original horror movie because, as a demonic possession story, it feels like it's been done a thousand times before.
Director Nicholas McCarthy does a great job of building tension and atmosphere. But his downfall is that TOO much time is spent on the setting and mood, causing significant gaps in the narrative. The stunning set pieces are good for the first act, but soon make for a very dull viewing. It's especially infuriating within a film that's only ninety minutes long because not enough time is devoted on the characters, making them seem underdeveloped.
At The Devil’s Door isn’t all bad (the acting from the three leading ladies is top notch and the cinematography can be beautiful), but unfortunately, it’s just so overwhelming boring.
