4. Stacy Keach (Warden Henry Pope) - Escape From LA

John Carpenter's Escape from New York revolves around criminal called Snake Plissken, who's tasked with saving the president from Manhattan, which has been turned into a prison. Viewers fell in love with Kurt Russell's performance as Plissken and were desperate to see more of the cynical anti-hero in a sequel.

After being in development hell for a decade, the follow-up, Escape from LA, finally hit theatres in 1996... and it sucked. The failed sequel is rife with wacky humour, which undercuts any scene where Plissken is trying to be a badass.

Watching the one-eyed vigilante surfing or playing death basketball is so ridiculous, you can't tell if it's meant to be satyrical. Also, the special effects are so laughable, you'd think Escape From LA was made a decade earlier.

Having said that, Stacy Keach is great as the president's insidious commander, Mallory. His appearances is brief but he's quite memorable since he's one of the few villains who doesn't act like a cartoon character.

Sadly, the script has so many problems, Keach's performance (or anyone's for that matter) was unable to salvage this misconceived mess.
