Paul WS Anderson has a reputation for making films adapted from video games. However, he is NOT known for making GOOD films adapted from video games.

In his defence, the first Resident Evil movie was way better than it should've been (that laser scene was worth the ticket price alone).

But when Anderson ducked out of directing duties for the second and third entry, there was a noticeable slump in quality. So, when the original filmmaker returned for the fourth instalment, Resident Evil: Afterlife, fans were more optimistic.

Not only did Anderson come back, the film would incorporate the hero of the original game, Chris Redfield, played by Wentworth Miller.

Unfortunately, Afterlife is utterly bereft of creativity to the point where you wonder why the creators bothered to make it. The action scenes and fight sequences blatantly rip off The Matrix to the point where it becomes embarrassing.

Instead of showcasing his acting chops, Wentworth Miller doesn't do anything except look broody and point his gun a lot. Thankfully, Miller didn't return in the sequels but it's a shame he had to end up in the worst entry in the zombie franchise.
