10 Awful Films Star Wars: Force Awakens Actors Want You To Forget
6. Slipstream (1989) - Mark Hamill
RottenTomatoes Score: 20% The Plot: In the near future, Earth is a wasteland, destroyed by numerous natural disasters, and smuggler Matt Owens (Bill Paxton) steals a prisoner from two savage officers (Hamill and Kitty Aldridge) to claim the bounty for himself. Traveling along the slipstream, a fierce wind which is now the only means of air transport, Owens and his passenger must escape their pursuers at all costs. Why It Sucks: Though Hamill has worse films on his filmography, they're both cheats, because Sleepwalkers (15%) was an uncredited cameo, and Star Wars: The Clone Wars (18%) probably resulted in a significant enough payday that he didn't regret it one bit. Slipstream, then, is an admirable effort by Hamill to avoid being typecast as the boyishly handsome protagonist, for though he tries hard, the script and direction are so laughably shoddy that it was pretty much for naught. Still, Hamill should count himself lucky that he landed on his feet with voice-over work and a lifetime of milking his Star Wars success, because Slipstream's critical and commercial failure bankrupted producer Gary Kurtz, Tron director Steven Linsberger hasn't made another film since, and writer Tony Kayden has been stuck working on low-budget fare for his sins.
