Ah, the slasher genre. There is rarely such a thing as just an “okay” entry in this horror subcategory. You either get a stone-cold masterpiece that defines its era, like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre or Halloween, or you end up with something that’s only really worth watching again to point and laugh at. Something like I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Its plot is now notorious but in case you don’t know, the film centres around four friends who accidentally hit and kill a pedestrian. One year after they cover it up, one of them receives a threatening note which says, you guessed it, “I know what you did last summer!”.

Johnny Galecki plays an acquaintance of one of the four who happens to drive by when they are hiding the body but seems to leave again none the wiser. Still, he is the first suspect for the letter and, unfortunately, the first to be murdered by the mysterious rain slick wearing killer.

While not overly hated upon its release, this one has aged horrendously. If you’re not a fan of straight up horror and are looking to laugh rather than be scared next Halloween, it might be one for you to put on.
