10 Awful Horror Movies That Need To Be Remade

6. The Langoliers

You could probably take the majority of Stephen King's adaptations and demand them to be remade. While this author is a legend in the horror world (and even outside of it), there's no denying that adaptations of his work are about as inconsistent as the quality of a Halloween movie. Still, of all of the failed King movies, The Langoliers is one that really feels like a missed opportunity.

This story was adapted into a TV miniseries for ABC. It follows ten plane passengers who fall asleep during their flight and awake to find most of their fellow flyers mysteriously vanished. They land and try to figure out the situation, all while some terrifying creatures who appear to be devouring existence itself loom in the distance.

Part of what makes this story prime for a good adaptation is how simple the concept is. A bunch of strangers stuck in an airport trying to survive against an unknowable and terrifying crew of eldritch abominations is the kind of straightforward story that could make for a terrifying feature-length experience.

It's safe to say the TV miniseries did an abysmal job of animating the titular Langoliers; they looked almost like cartoonish MS Paint creations. This is another one of the main reasons why this story deserves a retelling, as using modern VFX to create a collection of reality-devouring monsters could be mind-blowing.
