10 Awful Horror Movies That Need To Be Remade
7. Wishmaster
The hall of horror icons that never were is brimming with movies, villains and franchises that, on paper, should have been smash hits but never quite caught on in the mainstream, and sitting atop that throne is Wishmaster.
Wishmaster follows the devilish antics of a malevolent Djinn, who grants the wishes of his owners, albeit with the trickery you'd expect from an evil genie. Oh, he's also attempting to bring about the apocalypse - nice! The original movie and its sequels are B-movies through and through, full of goofy effects and schlock. The thing is, they could be so much more.
The concept of an evil wish granter is so compelling, and such a villain would feel right at home in a vapid, fame-obsessed, voyeuristic, modern-day setting. Watching as this baddie tricks youngsters into fame and fortune, only to come gunning for blood, would be endlessly entertaining.
It's also safe to say the cheap visual effects could do with an update. Movies like Three Thousand Years of Longing show just how much visual fun modern VFX can bring to a Djinn. So, just think of the terrifying images that could come from this remake - it's the kind of thing horror fans would wish for.
