10 Awful Horror Movies With One Brilliant Kill

5. Slumber Party Massacre II - Sally Burns

Slumber Party Massacre II is such a weird, weird movie.

Whereas its predecessor began life as a spoof offering before being turned into a straight-up horror, it feels as if Slumber Party Massacre II was designed to be a musical.

Here, Deborah Brock's 1987 movie has its four key protagonists in a band that sounds like Belinda Carlisle and The Bangles were thrown into a blender. Not content with that, Slumber Party Massacre II also reimagines the first film's driller killer as a slick, leather-clad greaser who walks around with a drill-headed guitar and has a habit of breaking into song or pulling out swanky dance routines.

When this hip-thrusting rogue finally emerges out of the dreams of Courtney Bates (Crystal Bernard) in the final act of this sequel, one of the first to meet their maker is Heidi Kozak's Sally Burns. The drummer of the band at the centre of Slumber Party Massacre II, Sally is killed off in a rather genius way by our sinister crooner.

Not just does Atanas Ilitch's unnamed killer stick his whirring drill-tar through Sally, he does so in a way that allows the drill head to go through the wall and through the telephone that's on the other side of said wall - knocking out the phone line as a result.

From there, it's dance numbers a plenty as Slumber Party Massacre II bops to a close.
