7. Jason Bateman & Charlize Theron - Hancock
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DzIGZKAAjQ Hancock is a film riddled with problems, for sure - its bizarre tonal shift mid-film, most prominently - but a more basic issue is that Jason Bateman and Charlize Theron, characters who are supposed to be married, just don't have all that much chemistry. Now, the pair previously worked together as a couple on his hit show Arrested Development, but they didn't really need chemistry in that instance because the relationship was innately bizarre; it turns out that Theron's character is actually a M.R.F (Mentally Retarded Female), and so it hardly requires them to sizzle on screen. In Hancock, however, they're totally unbelievable in this relationship as what is supposed to be a loving couple, and though Theron's character harbouring a secret - that she is a super-hero, just like Hancock - might account for some of the awkwardness, I'm not convinced that this was intentional. It's just not very believable that the towering beauty that is Theron's character would end up with an average Joe - extremely likeable though he is - such as Bateman's character. I fully expect many to disagree here, so go ahead; argue away in the comments section.
