Aeon Flux started off as an animated series in the 1990s set in a dystopian future. The titular hero is a secret agent who tries to bring peace to the world after 99% of the population was wiped out. Because of the cartoon's psychedelic look and ability to juggle many story elements such as sci-fi, psychological drama, espionage thriller, and biopunk, Aeon Flux garnered a cult following.

So, when the live-action adaptation was released in 2005, long-time fans were excited at the prospect that Aeon Flux would finally be appreciated by the common masses. Sadly, it was a trainwreck. Despite having phenomenal talent, including Charlize Theron and Johnny Lee Miller, the movie was let down by a lame script, bad dialogue, and a lack of chemistry.

The worst thing about this incarnation of Aeon Flux is how generic everything looks. The animated series had such a unique animation style, it feels insulting that the movie didn't attempt to replicate it. Since the studio took no steps to capture the spirit of the cartoon, it makes you wonder why they bothered making it in the first place.
