3. Cillian Murphy (Thomas Shelby) - Retreat

In Retreat, a couple staying on a remote island discover a badly injured man called Jack. After they nurse his wounds, Jack explains to the pair that the world has been infected with a lethal virus over the last few days, suggesting they are among the only survivors. Despite the fact Jack tries to protect the couple, they suspect he may have an ulterior motive.

Retreat has a stellar cast that includes Jamie Bell, Thandiwe Newton and Cillian Murphy. And with a premise that sounds like a hybrid of Funny Games and 28 Days Later (which also starred Murphy), Retreat feels like it has the potential to be something truly special.

Sadly, the film is let down by slow pacing, sloppy dialogue and a predictable script. Murphy is surprisingly dull, Newton is fixed in "angry wife" mode, and Bell's performance becomes lubriciously sinister as the movie progresses until he borders pantomime villainy.

If you're still curious about watching Retreat, just look at the trailer. It spoils everything so you'll feel like you've seen the whole movie in two minutes.
