10 Awful Movies Sons Of Anarchy Actors Want Us To Forget

8. Maggie Siff – The Fifth Wave

Though Hollywood is thankfully over the trend now, the early 2010s were heavily congested with ‘young adult (YA)’ franchises in the wake of Harry Potter and Twilight’s success. The likes of the Hunger Games and the Maze Runner performed respectably, whilst countless others, from Percy Jackson to the Vampire’s Assistant, bombed heavily.

Maggie Siff is known far more for her television work than her film appearances, with her starring role in Mad Men standing out alongside her six season run as Tara Knowles on Sons Of Anarchy as career highlights, but her first role on screen after departing the series (following a three-year career break to give birth to her son) was in one of the many, many YA adaptations – The Fifth Wave.

Based on a moderately successful trilogy of novels by Rick Yancy, The Fifth Wave did nothing to stand out in a tired genre. Siff’s character has nothing to do other than appear in flashbacks and serve as a motivator to her daughter’s heroism through her death, as rule number one in YA is that the leads must always be orphans…

Floundering at the box office, The Fifth Wave became just another one-and-done attempt to capitalise on another franchise’s popularity. Siff quickly moved back to television on Showtime’s Billions and probably hasn’t looked back at it since.
