10 Awful Movies That Actors Loved Shooting

4. Tobin Bell - The Saw Franchise

The Saw franchise began as a small indie project from James Wan and Leigh Whannell and focused on a simple premise. Take two guys, chain them up in a bathroom and have a puppet psychopath force them to commit gruesome acts in a bid to make them appreciate their lives.

That nugget of an idea quickly grew into one of the most popular horror franchises of the 2000s, but as things went on the plots got more silly and the franchise became known more for its gratuitous blood and guts rather than being a worthwhile horror experience based around tension and intrigue.

Many actors came and went across the seven Saw films, yet only one was a regular fixture across all of them. Tobin Bell played the titular Jigsaw killer, a sadistic monster who constructed all kinds of nasty traps. It was evident right from the get-go, when Tobin enthusiastically agreed to lay in a pool of blood for hours while shooting the original film, that the actor was going to relish this role.

Even as the Saw movies got progressively worse and veered away from their serious roots, Tobin Bell was always there creating a deliciously sinister antagonist who hung over the characters and judged their every move - and you always know that the veteran actor is constantly enjoying himself any time he gets to reprise his John Kramer role.
