10 Awful Movies That Actors Loved Shooting

2. Arnold Schwarzenegger - Batman & Robin

1997's Batman & Robin, directed by Joel Schumacher, is one of the most infamously bad superhero pictures in the history of the genre. It was so awful that it killed off the Caped Crusader's original series of films, while also putting studios off making more films about the character for some time.

One of the more lambasted aspects of the film was Arnold Schwarzenegger's Mr. Freeze, whose terrible, pun-riddled performance busted up the film's efforts to make a good impression. Das Arnold was paid an exorbitant $25 million to star in the film - handily more than George Clooney's $10 million payday as Batman - and sat through a six-hour make-up application every day.

The Austrian-American actor got a lot of enjoyment out of the role in the end. On reflection, Schwarzenegger enthused, "I don't regret it at all. I felt the character was interesting, and two movies before that one Joel Schumacher was at his height [of popularity]. So the decision-making process was not off".

Arnold has never really been Oscar material, but even with the hefty criticism levelled at his work he had a good time playing Mr. Freeze. If nothing else, it was an easy-going role with a fat payout attached to it.
