10 Awful Movies That Wasted An A-List Cast

8. Now You See Me

The pitch for Now You See Me was a good one, and was loaded with potential to deliver the kind of high-concept blockbuster based on an original story that we don't see nearly enough of these days. However, the execution was painfully wide of the mark and squandered all of the promise.

Admittedly, the movie would have turned out a lot worse had it not been for the easygoing chemistry between the four leads, who only made up a small part of a stacked roster. Up-and-coming stars Jesse Eisenberg and Dave Franco played off well against beloved character actors Mark Ruffalo and Woody Harrelson, while bona fide legends Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman were also welcome additions as rival wise old sages.

Throw in Inglorious Basterds breakout Melanie Laurent, Isla Fisher doing her best as the token female of the team and veteran bit-parters Michael Kelly and Elias Koteas into the mix, and you've got a cast worthy of a prestige drama making do with an illogically-plotted caper riddled with inconsistencies instead.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
