10 Awful Movies Vikings Actors Want Us To Forget

7. Gabriel Byrne (Earl Haraldson) - Ghost Ship

Autumns Blood
Warner Bros. Pictures

In the first season of Vikings, Gabriel Byrne portrays the ruler of Kattegat, Earl Haraldson. He serves as the first main villain of the series, since he is in constant conflict with the lead character, Ragnar Lothbrok. Ragnar constantly calls out Harald for using his position for his own advantage and going against the will of the gods. In the end, Ragnar kills Harald in a duel before crowning himself as the new leader of Kattegat.

For decades, Byrne has proven to be an actor who elevates his work. Even if he's in a terrible movie like Stigmata or End of Days, the Dublin-born performer gives it his all. But in Ghost Ship, Byrne could only do so much.

Apart from the phenomenal intro scene, Steve Beck's horror flick is dreadful. The special effects for the spirits are so cheesy, it looks like it would be more suitable in a music video. Despite the fact the poster and trailer implied Byrne played a big role, his character is killed off halfway through. Once he's out of the picture, there's no reason to stick around for the rest of this travesty.
