10 Awful Movies With Incredible Casts

7. Prometheus

Dr Dolittle
20th Century Fox

Cast: Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba, Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace, Guy Pearce, Benedict Wong

Even though Alien had a mostly unknown cast, Ridley Scott turned it into one of the greatest horrors of all time. After the disappointing sequels and dreadful crossovers, it sounded like a return to form when Scott announced he was making an Alien prequel called Prometheus.

Armed with a dream cast including Charlize Theron, Idris Elba and Michael Fassbender, we all expected the British filmmaker to knock it out of the park. When the film begins with Fassbender's hypnotic performance as the enigmatic android, David, it reassured viewers the the movie was in safe hands.

Despite an intriguing opening, it became painfully obvious that almost every aspect of Prometheus is a mess. The characters act stupidly illogical, crucial plot points aren't explained, and the pay-offs are maddeningly underwhelming.

The worst sin is that Prometheus contradicts aspects from the original Alien, compromising the franchise's mythos. (This was before Alien: Covenant, absolutely obliterated the series' continuity.) It's certainly not the worst entry in the series but Prometheus is the most disappointing, which is pretty impressive considering the phenomenal ensemble.
