10 Awful Twists That Ruined Awesome Horror Movies

A French movie from 2003, High Tension (or Haute Tension if you really want to show off your language skills) is about two friends called Marie and Alex.

Whilst staying at Alex's parents house, the girls are forced to fight for their lives when a mysterious man arrives and begins killing Alex's family. The murders are brutal and sadistic, violent and bloody, deranged and sick. In short, everything you'd want from a slasher movie.

Alas, the plot twist is something nobody wanted.

In a turn of events so overused it should be illegal, it turns out that Marie was the killer all along! She murdered Alex's family because she was in love with her and didn't want anyone else to have her!

Apart from the myriad of plot holes this leaves - who ran Marie's car off the road if Marie herself was the killer? - this is also just another example of how same-sex love is villainised in cinema.

The kills were good, the characters were compelling, and tension was actually high. Unfortunately, much like Alex's family, this movie's ending got butchered.

What, too soon?
