10 Bad Horror Movies (With ONE Great Scene)
8. Strahm's Emergency Tracheotomy - Saw V
Again, history dictates that fifth entries in horror franchises are generally pretty rubbish, and Saw V is certainly no exception.
Beyond the fact that most of the movie is a wheel-spinning exercise which simply shoves more expository flashbacks into the mix amid a slew of mediocre kills, it also makes the key mistake of killing off the one character who actually seemed smart enough to take down Detective Hoffman, Agent Peter Strahm (Scott Patterson).
Strahm's resourcefulness is made evident in one of the film's very first scenes, where he wakes up inside a box which fills with water in order to slowly drown him.
In a rare case of a Saw character doing something incredibly level-headed, Strahm takes out his pen and jams it into his throat, performing an impromptu tracheotomy which allows him to breathe. Ridiculous, yes? But awesome? Definitely yes.
It's just a shame that despite his quick thinking, Strahm ends up crushed between two walls at the end of the movie, prematurely disposing of a great character in the process.
