When the first shot of Melissa McCarthy in uniform as a Ghostbuster was released online, it was hoped - desperately - by fans that it would be an early version of the Ghostbuster uniform. Where was the elbow guard? The name tag? And most importantly, the logo?
Well, the logo would turn up in later photos, but this was still not a good first impression - and first impressions mean a lot when you're remaking a classic movie. And while the production can certainly change the uniforms, as they see fit, just aesthetically, these aren't great. The stripes - not a great addition. The lack of pads - it makes them seem too much like a prison outfit. Again, this comes off as very generic, and very cheap - much like the proton packs and even the new Ecto-1.
Now, the story may be that the new Ghostbuster team is hard up for money and has to work with what they can get, and that's fine up to a point, but this is still a big budget Hollywood movie that seems to be taking the wrong approach in recreating the nuances of the original.
