10 Badass Movie Villains Defeated Way Too Easily

8. The Aliens (Signs)

While not as out-and-out badass as some of the other villains on this list, M. Night Shyamalan's Signs provided us with some brilliantly creepy sightings of its alien creatures, moments that had us gripped with fear and intrigued to find out what they were actually up to.

It's a great example of the "Jaws effect": the less time you see the monster onscreen, the scarier the thought of it becomes. As a result, when the aliens started to invade Earth at the end of the movie and one of them finally showed up in full view of camera, there was a genuine sense of terror in the air.

But Shyamalan dropped the ball, tossing all that good work aside when he decided to reveal that the aliens were vulnerable to water.

Stupidity of the aliens aside (why invade a planet that's literally covered in your main weakness?), the fact that they could've been defeated with a few well-placed water balloons felt insanely cheap, almost like the director was in a hurry to wrap things up.

Sure, Shyamalan will probably tell you that there's a "deeper meaning" here somewhere, but you can't defeat an advanced alien race with a glass of water and not expect them to come across as laughable buffoons. Hell, the main characters could've just spat all over them. Or urinated on them. You get the point.
