10 Badass Movie Villains Defeated Way Too Easily

6. The Death Star (Star Wars)

There aren't many movie villains that are capable of destroying entire planets within the span of a few seconds, but the Empire's Death Star, like Ronan, is able to do just that, blowing up Alderaan with no trouble whatsoever.

How do you defeat something that powerful? The Rebellion doesn't have the time or the resources necessary to build a Death Star of their own, and it would take an unprecedented amount of firepower to shoot the thing out of the sky - firepower that the Rebellion simply doesn't have.

Creator George Lucas clearly knew that he'd given the heroes an impossible task to overcome, which is why he was forced to give the Death Star one of the most notoriously convenient bad guy weaknesses in blockbuster movie history, one that allowed Luke Skywalker to take down the planet-sized killing machine by firing a single shot into its exposed exhaust port.

It's explained in Rogue One that this weakness was planted by the guy who built the machine originally, but that doesn't make it any less convenient an Achilles heel for Skywalker and company to exploit later on, and made the Death Star look like a giant tin can with a big gaping off switch.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
