10 Baffling Decisions That RUINED Artemis Fowl

6. The Accents Are All Over The Place

Artemis Fowl is set almost entirely in "the most magical place on Earth: Ireland." Ireland is known around the world as a cultural and artistic haven, producing some of the most beloved artists and actors of the western world. So it shouldn't be too difficult to get a few of them involved in the film, right?

Wrong! Very, very wrong. Almost everyone in this movie has an English accent.

Lara McDonnell and Colin Farrell, as Holly Short and Artemis Snr. respectively, speak in their natural Irish accents, which works.

Ferdia Shaw, who plays the titular Artemis Fowl, has an Irish accent. Unfortunately, most of the time it sounds like he is trying to sound more villainous by half-attempting an upper-class British accent (and not really pulling it off).

Josh Gad and Judi Dench both go wild and choose to do weird gravelly Batman voices. Our best bet is that they were both involved in some sort of contest as to who could have the most irritating vocal performance.

Whoever wins, we lose.
