In the books, Opal Koboi is a fantastic villain who doesn't make an appearance until The Arctic Incident.

In the movie, Opal Koboi has less depth than a Spyro boss and looks like she got her costume in PoundLand's post-Halloween sale.

Rather than a fully-formed character with connections to anything else going on in the story, this version of Opal might as well be a cardboard cutout. Her only motivation is that she wants the Aculous, and her only plan is to kidnap Artemis's dad and wait around until he finds it for her. Despite being the primary antagonist, she is nothing but forgettable.

Opal Koboi should not have appeared in this film at all. You may ask: "but without Opal, who would the villain be?"

The answer is right in front of you...
