10 Bafflingly High 2015 IMDb Scores You Won't Believe

5. Straight Outta Compton

The Score: 8.1/10 What It Should Be: 7.5/10 Straight Outta Compton is a pretty good film, all things considered. But is it 8.1 good? Is it as good as say, Ace in the Hole, or Akira, or Au Revoir Les Enfants, to name but three films (all beginning with the letter "A," you'll have noticed) with the same IMDb rating? Hardly. Something seems to have gone terribly wrong during the rating process, then, in the sense that fans of the movie - and there are a lot of them, by the looks of things - have feverishly rated F. Gary Gray's N.W.A. biopic as highly as possible, which has rocketed it up the list where it now sits with an 8.1. For a movie that - half the time - feels like a television film, and is painfully on-the-nose in places, that kind of rating is unexpected, to say the least. If this sounds like a rant against Straight Outta Compton, don't be fooled: it's a seriously solid movie, highly watchable, probably the best of its kind. Still... it's nowhere near perfect, and an 8.1 score tends to denote an essential watch. It doesn't quite match up.
