10 Belated Film Sequels Hollywood Should Never Make

3. Sixty Candles

Groundhog Day
Universal Pictures

The Original:

Sixteen Candles(1984). This classic John Hughes comedy stars Molly Ringwald as Sam Baker, an awkward teen whose sixteenth birthday is forgotten by a family more focused on her older sister's wedding.

She faces a myriad of embarrassments throughout the day including a sex quiz falling into the wrong hands and having to fend off the advances of geeky Ted (Anthony Michael Hall).

The Sequel:

This time it’s Sam's Sixtieth birthday that’s set to be overshadowed by a family event. Her niece is getting married and getting all the attention.

Instead of a magazine sex quiz, this time Sam embarrasses herself on YouTube or Tik-Tok or something.
