elfsized Type-casting is a serious issue that affects a lot of actors. Whether it's Matthew Perry cast as a stammering ball of wit and awkwardness, Bruce Willis who's always the gruff but soft-hearted badass, or as is the case here, Will Ferrell who frequently plays the under-developed, immature, socially stunted man-child. Of course, in the movie Elf, it at least makes a little sense as to why he is the way he is. After all, he grew up at the North Pole and knows nothing of the world and its sins. Only toys and gum drops and happiness. The odd part comes when he manages to hit it off with Zooey Deschanel. Believe me, it is not that easy to woo Zooey. I've been tryi-I mean... Ahem. It takes more than that to impress a lady. A youthful spirit is all well and good, but don't you have any serious job prospects, Buddy? How are you going to support yourself? What about when she wants to settle down and have a family? She's not going to like it when you're still mooching off Papa Elf for rent money. Oh, what's that? You guys are married already? Well...that's cool, I suppose.
