There was a time when self-referential horror films worked: Scream and Wes Craven's New Nightmare were kings of the side-genre, but then Scary Movie came along and raised a few smiles and the genre was reinvented into something entirely distasteful.
And despite the first movie being a fetid thing, the Wayans combined again to attempt a world record for the most amount of jokes that entirely failed to make anyone laugh at all.
