10 Best & 10 Worst Horror Movies Of 2016

3. Cabin Fever

Another utterly pointless and atrocious remake alongside Martyrs but definitely the worse of the two (if only by a small margin), Cabin Fever boasts the dubious honour of being one of the year’s most universally panned films.

Considering the glut of remakes currently sprouting forth from Hollywood, it’s not too shocking that Eli Roth’s impressive horror debut would eventually get the remake treatment. What is shocking however is that Roth was fully involved with this shoddy excuse for a movie, acting as producer and even using the same script as the original but with filmmaker Travis Z directing. Roth can defend the movie as just like ‘re-staging a play’ all he wants, but really the whole think reeks of unoriginality.

You know the set up. A group of horny college students’ vacation at a remote cabin in the woods is disrupted by weird redneck locals and a flesh-eating virus. People get sick, they die, the end. The remake has nothing new to offer and let’s just say it didn’t earn itself a 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes for no good reason.
