6. War For The Planet Of The Apes

War For The Planet Of The Apes
20th Century Fox

Release Date: July 14, 2017

The Trailer: War For The Planet Of The Apes' first trailer is a bit of a slow burn, but then again, the series has always been about the characters and not necessarily the action. As a result, the action is usually much more impactful when it does hit, and that's certainly the case here.

Aesthetically, it looks striking, with lush forests, sweeping vistas and enormous fortresses giving the trailer a vast scope that more than lives up to the movie's title. And, like all good trailers, this one raises as many questions as it answers - how did Caesar and co. manage to capture those soldiers? Who is the girl, and why is she so special?

We can't wait to find out.

The Movie: The third entry in the series and not to be associated with Tim Burton's disastrous 2001 take on the property, War For The Planet Of The Apes will make good on the ending of the last movie and give us a humans versus apes showdown - a battle that will ultimately decide the fate of the planet.

The first movie was about Caesar's origin, the second was about his reign and we can only assume this will be about his legacy, which should make it an emotional final chapter and wrap up the central ape's story nicely.

He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show.
