2. There Was No Serial Killer - Bodies Bodies Bodies
The most recent entry on this list pulls off a quite ingenious plot twist by hiding the most obvious solution in plain sight, enough that neither the audience nor the central characters even bother considering it.
Bodies Bodies Bodies revolves around a group of rich twenty-somethings who spend the weekend partying at a mansion during a hurricane.
But before long, the revellers start turning up dead, beginning with the mansion's owner, David (Pete Davidson), who is found with his throat slashed.
Throughout the rest of the movie, the group progressively turns on each other in their frustrated attempts to pinpoint the killer, resulting in a number of deaths both accidental and misguided.
Eventually the numbers are whittled down to partners Sophie (Amandla Stenberg) and Bee (Maria Bakalova), who during a final scuffle come across David's phone.
They watch a video which reveals that David accidentally slashed his own throat with a kukri (short sword) while trying to open a champagne bottle for a TikTok video.
Indeed, there was no murderer at all, only one accidental death which kickstarted a paranoia-fuelled round of additional ones, an insane revelation which Sophie and Bee are left to process off-screen.
