7. "I Kick Arse For The LORD" - Braindead

Malignant Jail
Trimark Pictures

In complete fairness to the undead horde attacking Father McGruder (Stuart Devenie) in Peter Jackson's splatterfest masterpiece Braindead, who ever expects the priest to be a damn kung-fu expert?

When a gang of undead hoodlums attack protagonist Lionel (Timothy Balme) at a graveyard, McGruder arrives out of nowhere and offers up some, in his words, "divine intervention."

McGruder administers an impressive ass-kicking upon the goons, in-between dropping the immortal one-liner, "I kick arse for the LORD!"

McGruder kicks, flips, and dismembers the zombies, even beating them up with their own severed limbs, in surely the most hilariously excessive - and awesome - display of violence ever committed by a clergyman on-screen.

Who could've ever seen that coming? But to the same token, McGruder's ticket sadly also gets punched in the very same scene, as he ends up bitten by an errant, airborne zombie head, before another impales him on one of the graveyard's statues.

For a hot minute, though, McGruder was far and away the most badass character in the movie.
