10 Best 80s Horror Movies You Probably Haven't Seen

When you mention the iconic horror writer, HP Lovecraft, you will most likely remember the 1985 horror comedy, Re-Animator. However, Lovecraft’s work was adapted once more in the lesser known From Beyond.

Released one year after Re-Animator, the film borrows the same director (Stuart Gordon) and the same actress (Barbara Crampton) from it’s spiritual predecessor. It centres on a group of scientists who have created a machine that, when opened, creates a group of terrifying and dangerous life forms.

As you might have already guessed, the film is pretty much as Lovecraftian as you can imagine - thrilling, deeply unsettling, and of course filled with plenty of over-the-top gruesome gore.

It may lack slightly in black humour - aiming for being a more straightforward, thrilling horror movie - but doesn’t mean it’s any less of a rousing and exciting B-movie with plenty of fun to be had.
