10 Best Accidental Horror Movies
9. Labyrinth
A charming movie full of puppets, songs and goofy characters, starring David Bowie and crafted by the man who created The Muppets? Surely such a project would be a whimsical delight.
Well, Labyrinth is anything but whimsical; it's a dark, scary and downright creepy flick that throws a tonne of messed-up scenarios your way, thanks to Jim Henson's creative creatures and the wild mind of the writer, Terry Jones.
Labyrinth follows the young and naïve Sarah as she puts up a fuss after being asked to babysit her brother Toby. In a misguided fit of frustration, she asks the Goblin King to take her young sibling away, and he obliges. Then, to get him back, she is tasked with completing a Labyrinth, full of dark puzzles, dangerous games and terrifying creatures.
It almost feels like what would happen if Guillermo del Toro made a kids movie, as the flick's monsters are truly horrifying. Some of the worst include the Helping Hands - pictured above - who cling to Sarah and communicate by forming faces with their fingers. Then, there are also the Goblins, who look truly disturbing and vicious. That's just scratching the surface of this spooky movie.
Even with Bowie's charming presence, this flick still caused plenty of children and adults alike to hide behind a pillow.
