9. The Conveyex Heist - Solo: A Star Wars Story

Solo may be a mixed bag of a movie, but the action sequences are genuinely well-wrought by Ron Howard, and none more so than the riveting Conveyex heist.

The scene sees Tobias Beckett (Woody Harrelson), Han (Alden Ehrenreich), Chewie (Joonas Suotamo) and co. attempting to steal a shipment of the precious hyperfuel coaxium from an Imperial conveyex train, and it's honestly one of the most visually remarkable and imaginative set-pieces in the entire Star Wars saga.

The high-wire sequence has the gang fending off Imperial backup as they attempt to steal the coaxium, with Chewie very nearly taking a fatal tumble overboard, and matters are further complicated by the arrival of outlaw Enfys Nest (Erin Kellyman) and her gang of Cloud Riders, who also want the coaxium.

As a result, Beckett's team suffers unfortunate casualties: loveable monkey pilot Rio Durant (Jon Favreau) succumbs to a blaster wound, and Beckett's wife Val (Thandie Newton) sacrifices herself to ensure the team can escape.

To make matters worse, Han is forced to jettison the coaxium shipment in order to get away unscathed, making all that death and destruction pointless, and leaving their employer, kingpin Dryden Vos (Paul Bettany), very upset indeed.
