When the director of The Raid, Gareth Evans, announced that there would be a sequel to his much-loved action flick, there was a mixture of excitement and nervousness. Fans of the first film obviously wanted to see what happened next with special tactics officer, Rama, but didn't want to risk the sequel possibly tarnishing what had come before.

Luckily for fans of the first film, not only was The Raid 2 an amazing martial arts flick in its own right, it was also a brilliant addition to an exceptional franchise. While The Raid was less focused on a plot filled with twists and turns, preferring to pay more attention to Iko Uwais' savage Silat skills, The Raid 2 had far more story and character development.

So not only did we get the same level of quality action scenes that we got from the first film, we also got more of an idea of who the characters in the film were. While The Raid 2 doesn't have the same sort of impact as its predecessor, it's still a highly enjoyable movie that incorporates some new elements into the story, without straying too far away from what made the first one great.
