2. John Wick

Who would've ever thought that 15 years after The Matrix came out, Keanu Reeves would still be a viable action star? However, with the release of stylish action flick, John Wick, Reeves proved that he's still one of the best in the business when it comes to being a stoic badass.

Although its premise might've come across as slightly farcical - Wick wants revenge against a crime family for killing the dog gifted to him by his dead wife - the film is fully embraces the silliness of the plot. However, a man on a killing spree over a dead puppy has never been more enjoyable.

The plot might be a little bit light, but that allows for the action to be the main focus, which is perfect for a movie as viciously violent as this one. Whether he's using a wide assortment of guns or some nifty jiu-jitsu techniques, the film's director, Chad Stahelski, and Reeves do a brilliant job of finding extremely creative and ruthless ways for Wick to kill his enemies.

It's gory, brutal and gratuitous at times - he punched a knife through a man's chest guys! - but that's also what makes Wick, and the franchise as a whole, so appealing.
