9. The Elevator - Captain America: The Winter Soldier
When your roster of heroes includes a billionaire in flying armor, a demigod, a deadly accurate archer and a giant green rage monster, skills in hand-to-hand combat can often be an overlooked quality. History's greatest soldier proves himself to be more than proficient in the art of ass-kicking as Captain America dispatches an elevator full of SHIELD goons in rapid time.
The shortest sequence on this list, clocking in at under four minutes, the elevator showdown is still an incredibly effective action scene. Tension builds as more and more henchmen enter the elevator, with Cap quickly realizing what's about to go down. Always the gentleman, our hero even offers them the chance to get out before things get ugly.
Despite its brief running time, the scene is extremely well-paced and expertly choreographed, as Cap uses his fists, feet and elbows to eliminate the threat, with the direction and editing of the scene making the action both hard-hitting and easy to follow. Job done, the scene even finishes with a great character moment as Cap gets his shield back, looking like a total bad-ass in the process.
